My Philosophy

  • All good singing is rooted in excellent vocal technique.  A singer will produce their best sound when the body is properly aligned, the voice is free, and the mindset is one of focus and discovery.

  • Rather than follow a “method” in my teaching, I shape each student’s lessons to their needs and goals, taking great care to choose exercises, resources, and repertoire that will help them grow.

  • Performance is an integral part of voice study, and students are encouraged to perform in at least one studio event per year.

  • Private music study of any kind requires a commitment.  It is expected that you attend lessons regularly and practice consistently.  If you are unable to do that at this time, perhaps we should wait to work together until your schedule allows you to make this investment.
