Lesson Formats:

  • In-Studio Lessons

    • Students will be admitted to the studio at the time of their lesson.  Early arrivals must wait in their vehicles/outside.

    • Sick students, even those who are only mildly ill, will be sent home immediately without a make-up credit – no exceptions.  If you are ill, you may cancel your lesson and be granted a make-up credit (see below), or, if you are well enough to sing, opt for a virtual lesson at your regular lesson time.

  • Virtual Lessons

    • I will send a link to our chosen video conferencing platform via email.

    • If you experience technical difficulties signing on for your virtual lesson or are not admitted to the meeting right away, you must contact me immediately.  If I do not hear from you or see you online at the time of your lesson, I will assume a no-show, for which no make-up credit will be granted.

**Due to COVID-19, all lessons will take place virtually until further notice, even if schools and/or other businesses are open.  Lessons will resume in-person when and if conditions allow.  If in-person lessons resume, they may be moved back online at any time, dependent upon public health data and at my personal discretion.

Payment Schedule:

  • Students will be invoiced on the 20th of each month.  Payment due date is the 7th of the following month.

  • Payments not received by the due date will incur a $15 late fee.

  • Payments can be made in cash (exact change), by check made out to Ellen Allen, via Venmo to EllenAllenMusic, or via PayPal (sign into My Music Staff).

  • The studio is closed on the following dates:

    • September 7, 2020 (Labor Day)

    • November 25-29, 2020 (Thanksgiving break)

    • December 19, 2020-January 1, 2021 (holiday break)

    • February 15-19, 2021 (school vacation)

    • April 19-23, 2021 (school vacation)

    • May 31, 2021 (Memorial Day)

    • June 27-July 4, 2021

  • The studio is open on all other bank holidays and during all other school vacations, unless otherwise informed.

  • In the event of inclement weather, all lessons will take place virtually on the regular schedule.

Cancellations and Make-ups:

  • There will be no deductions, refunds, or credits for absences.

  • It is the student’s responsibility to log into the scheduler to cancel and/or reschedule their lessons.

  • Lessons cancelled at least four hours in advance will be issued a makeup credit.  Make-up times are first-come, first-served, and are never guaranteed.  Make-up credits expire at the end of the current session (December 31/March 31/ June 30).  If you schedule a make-up and then cancel it, you will not be granted another make-up credit.

  • If I must cancel a lesson, I will provide a make-up.

  • If you opt for a new weekly lesson time in the case of a temporary but ongoing conflict (i.e., a seasonal sport or drama schedule), you relinquish your original lesson time with the understanding it may not be available when your conflict is over.

Hiatus and Discontinuation:

  • Two weeks’ paid notice is required for a hiatus or discontinuation of lessons.  Students who do not provide two weeks’ notice will be charged a cancellation fee equal to one-half of a month’s tuition.

  • Any paid lessons beyond the two-week period will be refunded at the per-lesson rate of $60/45-minutes or $75/hour.

  • If you take a hiatus of any length, you relinquish your lesson time to be used at my discretion.

Dramatic Coachings

Clients must pay for their coaching(s) at the time of booking.  Payments can be made by cash (exact change), by check made out to Ellen Allen, via Venmo (EllenAllenMusic) or PayPal (
