I'm Ellen Allen, a conservatory-trained voice teacher and practicing holistic wellness coach. I have over a decade of private teaching experience, a wealth of performance experience, and in-depth training in holistic health. I believe that singing is one of the most holistic activities out there, and I'm passionate about helping others become the best, healthiest, and most expressive singers they can be!

I've been a musician my entire life. I was born into a musical family and started violin lessons at age four (yep, I was one of those Suzuki kids). I played very seriously through high school in a pre-conservatory program. And then, I decided I wanted to be a singer instead. I went on to college and then eventually to graduate school, earning two degrees in voice performance and gaining a wealth of vocal pedagogy knowledge.
Although both of my degrees are in voice performance, and I have substantial performance experience, voice teaching and coaching has always been where my heart is. It's a joy for me to watch my students develop the vocal technique, musicianship, and performance skills they need to reach their goals, while giving them a safe space to grow and discover their unique voices. Whether amateur or aspiring professional, teen or adult, I provide my students with a musically holistic approach.
Over the years, my students have won prizes at the NATS Boston student auditions, earned acceptance to high-profile conservatory programs, participated in the Massachusetts Districts and All-State festivals, and landed roles in their school and community productions. But more importantly, they've grown in skill, confidence, and a love for music.
How'd I get into holistic wellness coaching? Read some of my story below!
At some point in my early adult life, driven in part by the desire to take better care of my voice, I gradually became interested in "health stuff:" fitness, clean eating, natural remedies, and the like. I did a lot of casual reading and research on my own, took two in-depth nutrition classes, and dove deep into the science of essential oils. After several years, I decided to turn my passion for wellness into another career: I became a Holistic Wellness Coach through the International Association of Wellness Professionals.
Just like your voice teacher should have walked the walk, so should a wellness coach. Various health challenges, including frequent seasonal illness, have caused me to take a hard look at my diet and make changes - not once, but several times. It was important to me not only that these changes improve my health, but that they were based in solid nutritional science. One of the centerpieces of my coaching program is helping my clients cut through all the diet confusion, look at the science, and implement a diet that will work for THEM.
My other area of focus is stress management. If you're suffering from chronic stress that's having negative effects on your immune, digestive, or other bodily systems, I can help you - because I've been there too.
Over time, I began to see just how holistic an activity singing is. I decided to combine my love for the voice with my passion for wellness, and created "Healthy Body, Healthy Voice," a coaching program designed to help singers who feel inhibited by frequent illness, as I once did.
