About Ellen

I'm Ellen Allen, a conservatory-trained singer and voice teacher.  Over the past decade, I've helped countless teen and adult singers build confidence in their voices and achieve their singing goals - whether it was winning a competition, landing a lead role, or simply seeking enrichment through music-making.

I'm also a certified holistic wellness coach, with additional training in nutrition.  In my coaching programs, I focus on a holistic food lifestyle that supports overall well-being - especially in the areas of stress management and immune support.

My Background

Ellen the Voice Teacher

I've been a musician my entire life.  I was born into a musical family and started violin lessons at age four (yep, I was one of those Suzuki kids).  I played very seriously through high school in a pre-conservatory program, and then decided I wanted to be a singer instead.  I went on to earn two degrees in vocal performance, gaining a wealth of performance experience both as a soloist and professional choral singer in the greater Boston area.

When I began teaching during college, I immediately knew I that I loved it and wanted it to feature prominently in my artistic career.  I began building my studio here in greater Boston in 2011.  Since then, I've worked with countless teen and adult singers who have developed confidence in their voices and become skilled, versatile performers.

Throughout my career, I've also been a choral director, as well as a music director and vocal coach for youth theater productions.  Dramatic coaching - helping students to find the drama in their music and express it confidently and authentically on stage - is one of my favorite things to do!

You can read my complete performance bio here, and listen to recordings of my singing here.

Ellen the Wellness Coach

At some point in my early adult life, driven in part by the desire to take better care of my voice, I gradually became interested in holistic health.  I took nutrition classes, dove deep into the science of essential oils, and became a fitness enthusiast. After a time, I decided to turn this passion into another career: I became a certified holistic wellness coach!

When I coach my clients on nutrition and food lifestyle, they can rest assured knowing that I've been there: I've had to overhaul my diet before - several times - in an effort to combat health challenges.  I've had my own journey with immune support, adrenal issues, and digestive issues.  I've tried lots of different "specialty" diets, but it wasn't until I started thinking about food holistically that I developed a food lifestyle that works for me.

And that's what I help my clients to do - find out how nutrition fits into their overall wellness, and help them discover a food lifestyle that works for THEM: one that will help support the immune system, keep the gut healthy, and keep stress levels down.  In the process, clients often feel like they learn about more than just healthy eating - they learn how to take charge of their health, and implement changes that LAST!
